Smooth Blue Aster (Aster amellus Rudolf) 80 seeds (#2310)

Bushy, upright perennial to 60 cm with dark green, oval leaves and yellow-centred, violet-blue daisies 5cm wide in late summer and autumn.
Aster is a clump-forming, found naturally in grasslands and open, wooded areas throughout much of central and eastern North America.
The flowers are highly attractive to butterflies and other small pollinating insects.
This tough, drought-tolerant aster performs best in full sun, and is tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions. Stems may be cut back by half in late spring or very early summer to encourage bushier growth and heavier flowering.
Aster is an outstanding choice for mixed borders or wildflower gardens, and makes an excellent, long-lasting cut flower.

GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Fill a pot or seed trays with potting soil and dampen it with water until it is moist.
2. Press two to four aster seeds into the damp soil. Do not cover the seeds with soil as they need light to germinate.
3. Place the pot or seed tray in the refrigerator or outdoors in temperatures of around +2-+4C for two to three weeks.
4. Remove the aster seeds from the refrigerator or their current outdoor location and place them in a climate with an air temperature of at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Leave the asters there for two to three weeks and they should sprout.
5. Transplant the sprouts to individual pots filled with potting soil or into your garden.
